Water Pressure

The water pressure at which a storage water heater operates may be:

  1. Low Pressure – open vented systems where the pressure is provided by a cold water storage header or open vent (usually a copper pipe sticking through your roof. (3-12 meters head – 30 to 120 kpa, typically 3 – 7 meter head) Low pressure systems can be balanced and unbalanced.
  2. Low Pressure Vented – systems which rely on a pressure reducing valve to reduce the pressure below the mains pressure (3-12 meter head – 30 – 120Kpa, typically 3 – 7 meter head). Low pressure systems can be balanced and unbalanced.
  3. Mains Pressure – with a working pressure equal to the incoming supply (ranging from 120KPA to 1400 KPA, typically 350 – 700 KPA)
  4. Medium Pressure – systems also available and range from 75 – 120 Kpa.
